What is a SEER rating in an HVAC system?

The SEER measures air conditioning and heat pump cooling efficiency.  Calculated by the cooling output for a typical cooling season measured against the total electric energy input during the same time frame.  

 

A SEER rating is measuring the maximum efficiency rating, similar to your fuel mileage in your car.  The higher the SEER rating, the more efficient your system runs
